Do you have a sweatshirt that you love whose cuffs are wearing out? Want to practice your sewing on a “low risk” project? Then this class is for you!

You Will Learn:

  • How to upcycle a sweatshirt into a t-shirt

  • How to cut with a rotary cutter, ruler and self-healing mat

  • About knit fabrics and how to sew with them

  • How to sew a hem on a knit garment

Class Level:
Level 1 - You know the basics of how to operate a machine.

Ages:
16 and up

Supplies To Bring:

  • (Optional) Your sewing machine, foot pedal, empty bobbin and sewing machine manual

  • A relaxed fit sweatshirt that you’re happy to cut up

  • A spool of polyester or cotton all-purpose thread that matches your sweatshirt colour. Thread should be new and of good quality, e.g. Gütermann or Mettler. (No vintage or dollar store thread, please!).

  • A couple of ball point / jersey / knit sewing machine needles, size 80/12 or 90/14

I Will Provide:

  • (If you need one) A sewing machine, foot pedal, and empty bobbin.
