Tired of having to take your pants to the tailor for shortening? In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn how to hem garments yourself — whether it’s a skirt, pair of pants, or sleeves!
You Will Learn How To:
Accurately measure where you want your new hem to be
Decide how big your new hem should be
Cut, iron and pin to prep for sewing
Sew a professional-looking hem
This Class Is For You If:
You are 16 or older
You can thread your machine, wind bobbins, select stitches, sew forward and backwards (level 1).
Supplies To Bring:
One or more garments that you’d like to hem (we’ll probably have time to do two)
A spool of polyester or cotton all-purpose thread that matches or contrasts nicely with your garments. Thread should be new and of good quality, e.g. Gütermann or Mettler. (No vintage or dollar store thread, please!).
A pack of assorted Universal Needles (sizes 70/10, 80/12 and 90/14).
(Optional) Your sewing machine, foot pedal, empty bobbin and sewing machine manual
I Will Provide:
(If you need one) A sewing machine, foot pedal, and empty bobbin.
All tools and equipment.
