Make A Woven Tee - Sept. 12, 16, & 23
Want to make your own clothes? Have some basic sewing skills under your belt? Join me for this fun three-week class and make a woven t-shirt!
We will be using The Foundation Pattern from Thread & Sprout. Although we will be making the short-sleeved t-shirt in this class, you will receive the full pattern which also has options to make a top with ¾ length sleeves, as well as a short- or ¾ length-sleeved dress!
You Will Learn How To:
Use a PDF pattern
Take your body measurements
Understand basic pattern information
Choose the right fabric for your project
Prepare your fabric for sewing
Sew your top
How to hem
You are Welcome To Join This Class If:
You are aged 16 or older
You have completed 2-3 projects recently. You can confidently thread a machine, wind a bobbin, and operate a machine.
Supplies To Bring:
Week 1:
Bring yourself to Gala Fabrics on Saturday, September 12th at 1 pm! We will be going over some sewing pattern basics, taking our measurements, deciding what size of tee to make, and figuring out how much fabric we’ll need to buy. I will give you your printed pattern at the shop.
I can help you choose the fabric you want to use for your project. Gala Fabrics generously offers 20% off to Gather & Stitch students for their class supplies! If you already have fabric and thread - or you want to pick it up somewhere else - this is also absolutely fine!
Weeks 2 and 3:
Fabric
Matching thread (a new spool of good quality thread, such as Guterman or Mettler, no vintage or dollar store thread, please!)
Your paper pattern and instructions
(If you have and want to bring one) Your sewing machine, foot pedal, empty bobbin and sewing machine manual
I Will Provide:
A printed copy of the sewing pattern (a $15 value)
Digital files for the pattern (a $20 value)
All tools and equipment
(If you need one) A sewing machine, foot pedal, and empty bobbin.
