You Will Learn:

  • How to thread a machine

  • How to wind a bobbin

  • How to use different stitches

  • How to sew different types of textiles/fabric

  • How to select the correct needle for your project

  • How to finish your seams

This Class Is For You If:

  • You are 16 or older

  • There’s no need to have any previous sewing experience!

Class Supplies:

Please bring the following:

  • A sewing machine, if you have one! (Don’t forget your foot pedal, an empty bobbin, and your machine’s manual). If you don’t, you’re welcome to use one of mine.

  • A spool of standard thread (polyester or cotton, from Guterman or Mettler - no dollar store or vintage thread, please, as it’s liable to break)

I will supply scraps of fabric to practise on.

Date/Time:
Friday, September 25th from 6-9 pm

Location:
theDock: Centre for Social Impact, 722 Cormorant St. (near City Hall)

Note: If you’ve never tried your machine before, or if it’s been sitting for a long time, it’s possible you’ll find out in class that it needs to be serviced. If this is the case, I can lend you a machine to practise on during class.
